All these cost are going up.  A typical pool runs about $2,200 to $5,000 to operate annually. Usually the biggest cost are pool maintenance, the electric bill and gas if you are heating your pool. 

Generally if you have older equipment about 25% to 30% of your electric bill is associated with running your pump and filter.
