Pool Maintenance Excuses from the Pool Man
This is a new
section of the FTPM site. We are constantly amazed by the true
creativity and variety of pool man excuses. If you like to share
yours, just click

“It’s
Your Gardener” - John D. --- Monrovia, Ca.
It appears as if the only feud that has gone on longer than the
Hatfield and the McCoys is between pool men and gardeners. I was
caught in this epic struggle. My problem wasn’t that there were
any leaves or grass in the pool just that for some reason the
pool man was sure it was the gardeners. We were getting algae in
the swimming pool. We tried moving the gardening day to just
before our swimming pool cleaning day. When this didn’t do the
trick, the pool man said that the gardeners were blowing dirt
into the swimming pool and they needed to stop using the
blowers. Nothing changed, the pool still had algae.
My son in law, who had been in the pool maintenance business, suggested that
we try an automatic pool cleaner. We installed the Hayward Navigator automatic
pool cleaner and the pool immediately got better. After testing the water, I
found out that the chlorine the pool man had been adding to the swimming pool
was not working because the pool needed a strong dose of pool acid to balance it
so that the chlorine would work. We spent $80 to have one service call from
local pool supply house to get the swimming pool back on track. Now we handle
the swimming pool maintenance just a few minutes on the weekend. The Hayward
Navigator automatic pool cleaner does most of the work for me and we stopped
paying $80.00 a month for the pool man’s excuses.
“It’s Your Dog” - Nancy T. – Los Angeles, Ca.
After a year of not having the swimming pool I expected and
pouring extra money and chemicals into special treatments that
my pool man said would solve the problem – nothing worked. Then
the real culprit was identified --- “It’s your dogs.”
After setting up a fence in the yard that left the dogs with
half the space they needed, the swimming pool still wasn’t
clean. All I had to show for it was another extra bill to get my
swimming pool ready for the summer.
I decided to try the Hayward Navigator automatic pool
cleaner. From the first time we hooked it up to our pool
skimmer, the pool got cleaner. We could literally see the
swimming pool color change as the Hayward Navigator automatic
pool cleaner rolled across the swimming pool. The next day the
swimming pool looked better than it had in years. We let the
dogs out and the swimming pool was still spotless. Keeping the
chemicals right and doing a little spot cleaning on the pool –
sweeping down the steps --- is about a 5 minute a week job. Our
neighbors kept the same pool man, so I can look over the fence
and see how things are going for them – it looks like the have a
“dog problem.” For us – a clean swimming pool is simple and our
dogs have never been happier.
